Soul Delight

I've been jamming a lot of chill sessions lately and i find that electro/fidget/minimal aren't exactly conducive to setting the mood. So it's always good to find a house track, while chilled, is funky and jazzy enough not to settle impressively into the background. This track by Audio Werner is a keeper, so soulful, so chilled

Audio Werner - Bakshi

Hijackin

I got this little surprise in my facebook inbox yesterday, it pays to be part of the Hijack group on Facebook. It's a new remix by the English Fidget Impresario. This track really surprised me because its so phat and bouncy, unlike most Hijack tunes, its slower but with a more focused rhythm, the bass is perfectly matched with the moody vocals. I suggest jamming this on the way to a club, quite massive

Adam Freeland - Morning Sun (Hijack Remix)

Jacking Jones

Jeez it's hard to believe that's its already December, this years been insanely busy and awesome. I got my degree, so now that those nerves are sorted there'll be more steady blogging coming your way. Now I've got some jacking house for you, it's been a while, my apologies, this is more soulful deep jacking stuff by Sonny Fodera

Sonny Fodera - Bad Connection

Sonny Fodera - Everybody Get On The Decks

I Need Your Help

Apologies for such blatant friend-promotion on JohnnyFidget, but my good friend Raquel O'Donoghue, has entered the FHM Model Search 2010 competition, and judging by that awesome pic, i'd say she deserves to win. So for those of you living in S.A. please

It's All A Circus

Ever since i heard Brabe's remix of Flying Lotus' Breathe, i've been the biggest fan of this young producer. Now he's taken a track originally by the great J Dilla and made it into the most pleasant chill out track. Doesn't get any better

J Dilla - Circus (Brabe Cover)

Happening...

Legendary South African Superclub, celebrates its 10th Birthday will a 24hr dance festival. Make sure you there to experience the insanity.

Eiszauber

For those of you in the Northern Hemisphere, firstly i'd like to acknowledge you and thank you for your continued support of this blog. It seems we're not so different today as the weather in South Africa is wet and miserable. So i've been indulging in a little melancholy and decided to share this intensely awesome minimal track with all of you. This is pure art and it is achieved with such simplicity and restraint that it blows you away. It's a joint banger by Solomun and the highly talented Stimming. Enjoy it

Solomun & Stimming - Eiszauber

Organo Scuro

Now here's a grimy little tech number that is probably the soundtrack to all my underground clubbing fantasies. I imagine walking into Truth with no one worried about clothing, out-jamming each other and being totally immersed in the intensity of the music. Its just a fantasy but hey I'll keep dreaming. This soundtrack is brought to you by Hermanez And Ramon Tapia.

Numb Wrist

This track is sooo old but i've always wanted to put it up here. I remember jamming it when i would only download sets. I remember it from one of the early quality Crookers sets. What a mad tune, combining the talents of Foamo, Will Bailey and Ill Phil. Chunky Fidget

Foamo, Will Bailey, Ill Phil - Numb Wrist (Original Mix)

Jack Off Jill

This is way overdue, been selfishly enjoying this, South African fidget Wunderkid, Mini K has blessed us with an apocalyptic banger that is really on par with some of the stuff Brabe produces. This young gun is one to look out for. Jam it

Mini K - Jack Off Jill

Crookers

Well I'd written this Italian Duo off, due to their recent noisy and random 'fidget'. The Crookers started off so well with tracks like Just Ghetto, Knobbers and Atomic Baile Boy. Lately however they've been less than impressive. That's why it was so good to hear their latest remix offering, its simple and unpretentious and that's the reason i probably got this track. And while it isn't mind-blowing, it isn't bad, and lets hope its signalling a return to simple good music. Then again this is a Jesse Rose Remix so, maybe he deserves all the credit

Crookers - Put Your Hands On Me (Jesse Rose Play Prime Remix)

Mal-Innit

Malente always manages to surprise me because you can never truly know what to expect from him, whenever i see his name linked to a track i always download it just to be proven wrong. Well he's done it again with this upbeat deep track which has some old school disco leanings, truly stellar track. Perfect for any deep or disco set.

Malente - I Like It (Riva Starr's Remix)

Potato Heads

Ladies and Gentlemen this is a presentation brought to you by the good people at good fidget inc. This track has so much chunky bounce its tiring, it takes me back to a time when i would walk into Natural Groove and immediately know that i would have a good night. The second drop is mind blowing, listen out for it on Hijack's September set, the way he mixes it in, is so insane. This is what musical progression is about, the use of traditional instruments (e.g. Sax and Trumpets) in house music. Go crazy for Potato Heads

The Potato Heads - Trumpet Dance

Washed Out Disco

Washed out has created what is possibly the most melancholic song ever. This lo-fi disco track is so intensely awesome not only because of the instruments and strung out sounds, but because it induces deep introspection. In my mind, a song has to have some purpose, be it to entertain, soothe, excite etc. and this track meets that requirement, definitely one of my top tracks of 2009

Washed Out - Feel It All Around

You've Got The Love

It's no secret i'm a big fan of Florence and The Machine. Well now it seems, she's getting major airplay, saw her video for raise it up on Mtv. This is a track I just seem to have memory off, but she's done well in putting her spin on it, this remix is amazing. check it out

Bram Faber of the Netherlands is undoubtedly one of the best producers around, constantly re-defining perceptions and breaking barriers by creating new sounds. Below are a few tracks from his Sound Cloud profile for your listening pleasure. Appreciate Brabe

Puff On This

Mother of all things sacred, there's no escaping fidget, good fidget that is. This is an old number, but jeez when i found it, i realised that it was worth sharing regardless. Clark Able takes on Nic Sarno's track with such tenacity that can only be truly expressed by the two steppers and hipsters. Bounce on

Nic Sarno - Hot Jack (Clark Able remix)

Chunky Bit

You can always trust Hijack to introduce you to the latest bangers. This is one of the many bangers in his latest set that is beyond insane. This bouncy and chunky number is the product of one Harry Axt. Fidget never felt this good. This is random but Brabe is the most awesome producer ever (Groupie Alert)..

Harry Axt - Crazy

Lone Star

My my, it seems that my love affair with Milton Jackson is far from over. I discovered two gems by this musical genius. I personally think that he's one of the few producers around consistently creating masterpieces, whether its a new banger or a killer set. This guy is the one to watch.

Milton Jackson - Got To Hold Onto

Milton Jackson - You Don't Know (George remix)

What makes you Deep?

I often wistfully indulge in the nostalgia of old school house. For some reason it seems that nothing of late has been able to capture the spirit of those tracks that pioneered the house movement. The interesting thing is that house, way back when was so well produced that even today it is relevant and still considered spin-worthy. That is why i was so surprised by my recent discovery. Julio Bashmore, the new don of deep house, maybe a premature title but well deserved. Give his tracks a listen and you'll recognise that, old school quality, that has been missing...

Julio Bashmore - Around

Julio Bashmore - Jack Got Macked

WereWolf

The Martin Brothers have produced a track while not only devastatingly good but also relevant to the current Vampire / Werewolf craze. This Minimal-tech banger, is so piercing and dark, while simultaneously transporting you to a intensely savage place. This is pure art. Enjoy

The Martin Brothers - Full Moon

Epic fall

Since today's weather has been so unforgiving and hot, i decided to bless you folks with my song of the summer. This track is epic, to say the least. Jamie Jones is possibly one of the freshest producers around with a unique perspective and killer production skills. I saw him play live at FABRIC and have since been a fan. I reckon the reason he makes such good music is that he enjoys what he's doing, enjoy this, cause i still haven't gotten over it.

Bonus:
Mexico, is a low quality rip of one of the tracks off of Jamie's album, Don't you Remember The Future, EPIC

Jamie Jones - Summertime (Original Dub)

Beat That Bird

I realize that this is ridiculously late, but wow, Justin Martin and Claude Von Stroke, together on one track. The result is pure dirty beats and quirky accents that make this an instant dance floor banger. I got the Claude Von Stroke EP last night, what genius. Keep an eye out for these two

Justin Martin & Claude Von Stroke - Beat That Bird

Make The World Go Round

Well I've never really been a big fan of Busta Rhymes, but this really surprised me. Estelle's lends her vocal prowess to this banger, you'll find yourself waiting for her vocal interludes, and bumping your head ridiculously. I'll admit i don't know who the remix-er is but what a great job! Enjoy

Busta Rhymes feat Estelle - Make the world go round

The sound of the Underground

This track has been playing in my head the whole time i was studying for exams, what a beauty. The minimalist beat and romantic embellishments make this a track worth playing over and over again. Lie down, pour yourself a drink and enjoy the sounds of Iron Curtis.

Iron Curtis - Solgerhood

Galactik Knights

It is said that those who cannot do, teach. Well since i can't produce great house music, as it is not my talent, i prefer to educate people about the many wonders of this genre. One sub-genre that has captured my interest lately is that of disco. The perfect prescription for a dull or unhappy moment. Disco epitomises happiness and bubblegum love ha ha. Galactik Knights seem to understand this all too well, judging by their offerings to the House gods. Jam out Kids. The Kids Want Deadbeat Disco

Galactik Knights - Silver Bells

Galactik Knights - Falling In Love

Dog days are Over

This band has to be one of my great finds of the year, the leads voice is so intensely piercing and moving. This song is the perfect pick me up for those moments when life is a tad heavy, the vocals are honest and true, while the delivery forces you to get up and shed the doom and gloom. Check out Florence and the Machine, you wont regret it.

Florence and the Machine - Dog days are Over

Pursuit of Happiness

I'm really excited to be blogging about this collaboration, because it's probably the best thing i've heard all year in terms of mainstream music. Kid Cudi , Ratatat (On Production) and MGMT, oh my soul. This track works so well due to Cudi's crossover appeal, i think he's an indie rapper instead of just plain rapper, his vocals are hypnotising and captivating while the chorus draws you in unsuspectingly. Wait for the guitar solo and be amazed. Enjoy this cause I'll be jamming it for years to come.. I've included the video so you see how awesome the guitarist looks while doing his thing.

I Want You //////

The last time i heard anything mad sick from Azzido da Bass was during the days of the Crookers craze. Well it seems they're hiatus was warranted as they have returned full force with a new banger. This little number is a tad ravey but doesn't get annoyingly hard, its bouncy rave! Give it a listen..

Azzido Da Bass ft Jence - I Want U Part 1

Just a little Bit

I'm quite used to being proven wrong these days, so once again it came as no surprise when i found myself jamming out to Boy 8 Bit's remix of Florence and the Machines - Drumming noise. Wow the restraint is so apparent as he chooses rather to create simple minimalistic techno beats that make this a track worth having in any music lovers collection. Thanks to this remix i discovered the amazing Florence and the Machine, so good call all round. Enjoy

Florence and the Machine - Drumming Song (Boy 8 Bit Remix)

Stars Come Out

Well I'm sure you were all excited as i was to hear of Calvin Harris' new offering, Ready for the weekend. While i still believe that I created disco is better, i must say his production skills have been refined and no where is it more apparent than in my favourite track off the album, Stars Come Out. It's the perfect mix of easy catchy vocals and happy disco beats, that make you wanna dance till the sun comes out. Get it and judge for yourself

Calvin Harris - Stars Come Out

Introducing... Mini K

It's been a while since we featured a local kid on the rise here, well this young lad, at only 19 is a force to be reckoned with, i saw him play at the Hijack event at Roxy's a while back and he made a huuge impression. He's producing talent is insane!! and he's a modest friendly dj, what more can you ask for. I've got two of his tracks for you, but please head to his myspace page (www.myspace.com/miniksmusic) to listen to Jack off Jill, which hasn't been made available for download, you'll pop a nerve.
