Disco Espionage

Deep house has always had the effect of making me feel like I'm living in a permanent Sunday, because while it brings complete euphoric peace, there's always this feeling that you cant remain in that space forever. This track is the soundtrack to the permanent summer session that is my mind. Steve Bug delivers an absolute masterpiece with this deep-techy number. Check It

Steve Bug - My Sweet Vital Angel

Chin Shaker No More

My good friend Reezo often recommends new tracks, and he's always spot on with my musical tastes, however when I first got this particular track, I didn't warm to it right away. after two more listens, I fell deeply in love with it. firstly the vocals are so catch you find yourself repeating them to yourself, then there's this disco-beat feel about the track that is utterly devastating! If Phat Jack were to release another from Capetown with love compilation I have a feeling this would fit right in there!

Miles Maeda - Addicted Me With Love

Dance Forever

The best way to tell if someone really likes a particular track, is to look at their faces when it drops. If its sincere, inhibitions fall away and a look of utter inner joyous devastation comes over their faces and they are then lost to all outer interaction for some time. This is how I felt when I heard this, there was no pretending, just shut eyes and ryhtmic release. Davidson Ospina makes the kind of house that makes you happy and carefree, even for a moment

Davidson Ospina feat. Mj White - Well of Love (Ospina Deeper Vocal Mix)

Simon Deporres

Last week I got to meet one of the team @Simon Deporres, a refreshing new label born and bred in South Africa, Cpt. Its really classic clothing that doesnt try hard to be cool. In the sea of shiny swag, that is 'in style' today, I suggest you give the website a look for the definition of timeless. Stockists Include: Astore and The Old Biscuit Mill, both in Cpt.

Fidgets Torch Bearer

While in the thick of exams I got an awesome gift in my facebook inbox from a chap by the name of Sean Taylor, what a goodie! As you might have noticed, despite the blogs namesake, there hasn't been much fidget on this here blog, because it all started to sound the same. This man's production skills have managed to convince me that there is still some hope for the genre. He utilises very catchy almost classic vocal samples, while delivering grotesquely bouncy beats that force you to dust off that old two step. I'm quite excited to see more from this talented lad.

Sean Taylor - What I Do

Sean Taylor - Sladoosh

Inter_Stellar Zulu

A few days ago, a close friend and I were talking about the good old days of Natural Groove (one of the most epic South African clubs). One thing that stood out in my memories was arriving and immediately wanting to jam, because the residents had a way of setting the most relaxed vibe. This track is one of those mood setting tracks that immediately sounds like you've heard it before. Its deep, its soulful while being upbeat. Try it on

Zoka Matic - Drum Study (Afrilounge Remix)

Bodie Marlo

Tracks like Bodie Marlo work for me because they actually have the effect of making you forget about your surroundings and completely engulfing you in a hypnosis effected by alien repetitive sounds. I'm in love with this track, there's nothing particularly earth shattering about its originality but the emotion carried through is amazing. Chopstick & Till Von Sein are your pilots, don't bother fastening your seat belts because there's no way you're gonna get up.

Chopstick & Till Von Sein - Bodie Marlo

Beautiful Surrender

I finally heard this song out at the Monica Kruse event, which was beyond epic. The best part was that, even though i listen to this track on the regular, I was suprised at the beautiful calm surrender it brought as i floated away on its deep beats and simple vocals. If you look in the dictionary for what house is, you'll probably find this song title there too. Maya Jane Coles has managed to produce a whole EP with the sound that originally defined house.

Contender for Top Track of 2010

I know its pretty daring to put up such a title as we all different tastes and opinions on what tracks have been epic this year. I'm sure a lot of you will side with Tensnakes - Coma Cat, and while I'm a fan, this track blew me away. It just does it for me, the chunky, distorted build up sends you into an erratic anticipation of the drop and while its a subtle break, what is subsequently delivers, leaves you lost in figuring out how your feet are moving to the funk.

Erdbeerschnitzel - I Wonder

Jesse Rose & Riva Starr

Now here are two artists who don't need much introduction, both having achieved much success in their careers. Now they've come together to create an absolutely joyful teaser to all the good times you'll have this year end. I especially appreciated the disco old school vibe, but its a definite must for those get togethers' before hitting the town. Give it a spin

Jesse Rose & Riva Starr - Start The Weekend

DUb-bing Out

Now here's a track I've been looking for, for quite some time. Basement Jaxx dropped it on my birthday and it completely floored me, especially since I'm not the biggest dub_step fan. Its a Caspa remix and it does the original complete justice. Let its simplicity sweep you away

Art Of Noise - Moments In Love (Caspa Remix)

Phonetic Jazzophone

I discovered a long time back that I study (well cram) best while listening to music, so the following will be a collection of tunes that got me 'in the zone'. First up, and this came as a complete surprise, Homework have brought forth a complete banger comlpete with old school feel and vocals but with a new almost urgent energy. This track is sure to drive any crowd into complete frenzy, and perharps most endearing is its almost jazzy influences in places. Enjoy it

From The Ghost Line

Having started this blog as a mainly fidget/electro forum it took me a long time to open my mind to anything else. I'm glad that as I've matured (hopefully) Ive started to give the countless producers I overlooked a chance. One thing I'm really grateful for is discovering the minimal-tech genius that is dOP, luckily I've been aware of Mathias Kaden for a while now. Their collective talent culminates in this stripped down funky banger of a tune. Enjoy it

Mathias Kaden & dOP - The Ceremony

Big Fun

One of my latest obsessions is Iron Curtis, this producer has such an interesting take on all things deep. Its such a refreshing angle to a sub-genre that tends to sound too alike at times. Many of you will recognise the vocal sample from the D.O.N.S track 'Big Fun'. "We don't really need a crowd to have a party"

Iron Curtis - Inner Tribute To The City

Horizontal Discotude

I'm a big fan of Milton Jackson, he's someone who's style inspires me to one day try emulate his success. By simply going through the mans discography, its easy to see why, he's one of the best, consistently churning out original works. This banger is a Milton re-work that delves into the roots of deep-tech and forces you to get up and groove to the beat.

Savage Sunday

Greetings, apologies for the silence. I'm about to write exams again so its always hard to get any free time. Regardless I have a few bangers to keep you going till my emancipation. First up is one of the tracks from my mix, what grabbed me about this track was the symbiotic co-existence of the hard thumping beat and the subtle soulful melody. Its one of those tracks you cant help but jam to. Livio & Roby present Sunday Offend

Livio & Roby - Sunday Offend

"The second most popular game, that we played as children was... HOUSE."

Progressive Analysis

I believe that when you listen to music and techno specifically, you should feel so awe inspired and stupendously moved, that you develop an appreciation for artistic talent. I discovered this little needle banger in a set and was completely moved by its hard-hitting nature, despite the fact that very little happens for the duration of this track. Imagine a solitary ping pong match, where each bounce creates a piercing pang to your consciousness. Enjoy

Hrdvsion - Captivated Heart

Death & The Maiden

I've always been a fan of eery vocals being laced onto a track to make your imagination that much more susceptible to the language of the music. No more is it more amazing than when done to a tech or minimal banger, it makes it filthier, grimier and makes you feel omnipotent. Here Gaiser takes you on atmospheric journey through some musical jungle.

Gaiser - Unstable Witness

Locomotion

Well if there's still any doubt as to my love for Pezzner, this should serve to clear any confusion. He is one of the most talented producers around. His simple, elegant, deep tendencies are employed with such soulful restraint that you cant help but get lost in his process. This track is a progressive locomotive deep banger that should make any day a chilled occasion.

Do You Remember Chicago?

Achieving immortality in the music game is easy, in house create a vocal sample that captures the attitude of a generation of a rebellious yet discerning movement lay it over a classic beat , and you will have instant loyalty. I've heard this sample used many times and it never gets old, but never have I wanted to lose it as much as I did when I heard this revival. I get Deep!

Ethereal Hostility

The true value and worth of any music is in what it inspires the listener to do, to become, to strive for. When I listen to this, my neurons explode desperately trying to process the millions of ideas running through my mind. It's hard to describe, its ethereal hostility. Never have so many elements been brought together so abruptly and worked. I encourage you to get your hands on Bibio's Ambivalence Avenue, it's a work of pure genius

Bibio - Sugarette

Look Again, You Will Find..

I must admit that while I only blog about tracks that excite me, it's been a while since I've been so genuinely excited that I held onto a track for too long. This track isn't new at all but just wait till you hear it, deep-tech at its absolute best, the vocals seem somewhat divorced from the soulful melody of the beat, which only serves to emphasise it's perfection. Mad props to Ogris Debris.

Ogris Debris - Miezekatze

Pierced Veil

Atmospheric house is probably the best way to describe what this is. It's a techno banger with the potential to send you on a solid solitary euphoric trip sans chemical indulgence. I really hope you get to hear this in a club, cause when you do, you'll probably close your eyes and rock back and forth for 7minutes solid. Jurek Przezdziecki is the man responsible for one of my tracks of 2010.

Jurek Przezdziecki - La Piece Blue

I Know A Place

Its been a while since I posted any Indie music on the blog and while it might not be the most appropriate forum, life is about sharing good vibes so who cares. This track is from one of my favourite bands the Foals, an English band that makes authentic music and is true to their style. It's the title track to their second album 'Total Life Forever', the vocals, lyrics and melody are amazing. So try it on for style
