Ethereal Hostility

The true value and worth of any music is in what it inspires the listener to do, to become, to strive for. When I listen to this, my neurons explode desperately trying to process the millions of ideas running through my mind. It's hard to describe, its ethereal hostility. Never have so many elements been brought together so abruptly and worked. I encourage you to get your hands on Bibio's Ambivalence Avenue, it's a work of pure genius

Bibio - Sugarette

Look Again, You Will Find..

I must admit that while I only blog about tracks that excite me, it's been a while since I've been so genuinely excited that I held onto a track for too long. This track isn't new at all but just wait till you hear it, deep-tech at its absolute best, the vocals seem somewhat divorced from the soulful melody of the beat, which only serves to emphasise it's perfection. Mad props to Ogris Debris.

Ogris Debris - Miezekatze

Pierced Veil

Atmospheric house is probably the best way to describe what this is. It's a techno banger with the potential to send you on a solid solitary euphoric trip sans chemical indulgence. I really hope you get to hear this in a club, cause when you do, you'll probably close your eyes and rock back and forth for 7minutes solid. Jurek Przezdziecki is the man responsible for one of my tracks of 2010.

Jurek Przezdziecki - La Piece Blue

I Know A Place

Its been a while since I posted any Indie music on the blog and while it might not be the most appropriate forum, life is about sharing good vibes so who cares. This track is from one of my favourite bands the Foals, an English band that makes authentic music and is true to their style. It's the title track to their second album 'Total Life Forever', the vocals, lyrics and melody are amazing. So try it on for style

Poof Pumpkin Time

There's a deep, warm, soulful element that trumpets and saxophones add to any track regardless of genre. It transforms any track regardless of how superficial it really is to a meaningful experince that resonates inward somehow. I'm not too sure why that is but i do know that one producer who's consistently churned out bangers with soul is Oliver $. This chap makes tracks that are often complicated and not always dance-floor freindly but never superficial. Check out his latest creation, its Jazzy-Funk-House.

Oliver $ - Midnight Blend (Oliver $ Remix)

Martian Beats

I'm on the hunt for heavy sounds. It seems lately all i've been downloading is either too deep or somber, it's time for some dark, dirty beats with evil vocals and eery tweaks, all suggestions welcome. In the interim peep this, the title of the track caught my eye and i had to have the track regardless of how it sounded. Well lets say this banger is aptly named as you actually feel yourself being transported to a solitary dance space. It's funky and deep, the perfect start to any night.. Look out for Gerd

Gerd - For 12 Minutes She Danced With An Alien (Joris Voorn Ruff Mix)

Throwback

My good friend and master-spinner Raess shared this on facebook. It's an old school track that ignited some serious nostalgia.. check it out..

Hound Sounds

There are days when I spend so much time listening to music that every song starts to sound the same. When I first gave Pezzners' new LP: The Tracks Are Alive, I was in a daze where everything was sounding all the same. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have been listening to it unless it was decent, however as I was wading through the album, this track caught my attention and snapped me out of my lucid dream. The production on this track is so crafty, there's this subtle build up through out the duration of this track that doesn't really erupt into anything. While that would have annoyed me a while back, I've found a new appreciation for actually just listening to a tune without anticipating the 'drop', try it you might hear things you've been missing.

Pezzner - Balboa Park

I am simply not there

The days are getting warmer, the skirts are getting shorter and the general morbidity of winter + post-world-cup-depression is lifting. I'm looking forward to spring, wearing denim cut-off jeans and dancing away in blissful-deadbeat-haze. One thing I'm especially looking forward to is Jimpster playing in South Africa, yes I shit you  not! The same people who brought Stimming to our shores have done it again, and this is how I know Jesus loves me. Anyway back to the music (ala Jesse Rose - Asided sample), this number here is by someone I've never heard of but who should be on all your radars from this point, Sean Roman, delivers an elegantly refined deep house banger with elements of laid back jazz that will make you dream of summer days. enjoy it

Sean Roman - What To Do

Forgive Me

Please excuse my repetitiveness, as it is necessary, I had to have two separate posts dedicated to musical genius. Yes Pezzner again with another winner from his LP/ Album. This time round, expect atmospheric, spaced out yet soulful beats with hauntingly beautiful vocals. There's nothing bad to say about this track, I've also included a remix by Lusine that is so technically pleasing that I've abused it, It's a techier take on the song and the repetition only serves to emphasise the beauty of the original. Phew enough brown-nosing Pezzner for one day
